The Department of Experimental Physics is one of the four departments of Faculty of Science that focuses on physics. Our mission is not only to study the laws of physics through observations and physical experiments, to develop and improve measuring devices and methods, to find new applications for nanomaterials or to investigate physical principals in biological systems, but also to increase the general awareness in physics by educating future physics teachers.
The main research interests of our department are listed below:
-
In the field of Applied Physics, the department focuses on the development of a modern instrumentation for Mössbauer spectroscopy, characterization and preparation of novel (nano)materials, advanced measurements for our industry partners, creation of new scientific data processing methodologies and software and lastly the department also focuses on the applied metrology.
-
The group of Didactics of Physics focuses on the education of physics teachers at higher levels of educational system. Staff of the Physics Didactics are the authors of numerous textbooks and other materials that are used throughout all levels of Czech educational system. They also conduct didactic research e.g., developing new approaches for teaching specific issues of physics.
-
The research of the Biophysics group is dedicated to the investigation of the human voice and to the preparation and use of nanostructures for biomedical applications.
Of course, all the individual groups participate in the preparation of students for their future employment revolving around (not only) physics.
