Opening remarks
Dear colleagues, dear students,
we would like to invite you to a public discussion on "Ideas of UP management about a new university institution and other topics". It will take place on Thursday, October 11 at 2 pm in the auditorium of Faculty of Science. Rector has promised to appear so you will have a chance to find out straight from the horse´s mouth how the planned changes shall affect our Faculty. The establishment of a new university body will be decided by Academic Senate. It should be on the agenda of its November meeting. We cordially invite all those interested.

FRUP
Rector of Palacký University Olomouc announces the 6th year of the Development Project Contest within the institutional plan of Palacký University Olomouc - FRUP. The competition is governed by Rector's Directive No. B3-13 / 5-SR. Announcement of the competition can be found here; the deadline for submitting proposals is October 31, 2018 by 5 pm. Projects focused on course innovation and development of existing laboratories, studios and teaching facilities through the purchase of laboratory or technical equipment, software and books related to teaching and preparation of teaching materials are expected. The minimum amount of one project is 50 thousand CZK (no investment costs can be claimed). It is necessary to audit the funds for any current projects and it is necessary to claim all resources till the end of the year. IGA projects should audit wages - 60% or more must be paid to doctoral students. The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports requires the 60%:40% drawdown ratio.
Public tender MP TRIO
Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade has launched a public tender to support industrial research and experimental development, focusing on the development of Czech Republic's potential in key technologies such as photonics, microelectronics and nanoelectronics, nanotechnology, industrial biotechnology, advanced materials and advanced manufacturing technologies. Support can be requested by businesses (legal or natural persons) who investigate the project in effective cooperation with at least one research organization. Other participants in the project may be businesses and research organizations. An electronic application form must be filled in and sent in the Ministry´s information system by October 31, 12:00 pm. The written application, including the annexes, must be submitted through the Department of Science and Research, by Friday, October 26, 12:00pm. Horizon 2020
The European Commission has announced a new round of Twinning challenge within Horizon 2020 (Call identifier WIDESPREAD-03-2018). You can find more detailed information about the challenge here, the participants' portal here. Proposals can be submitted by November 15, 2018. It is a very interesting opportunity to get involved in Horizon 2020 projects and to gain resources to support international cooperation with leading foreign scientific institutes.
Security Research Program of the Czech Republic
Czech Ministry of Interior has launched a public tender for research, experimental development and innovations within the Security Research Program of the Czech Republic between 2015 and 2022 (BV III / 1-VS). Registration of courses in STAG
The deadline for registration of courses in STAG for academic year 2018/2019 is September 23, 2018.
Requests for subject recognition
Requests for subject recognition, duly completed and confirmed by the Department, must be submitted to the Study Department by October 10, 2018.
Matriculation
The matriculation of freshman students of Bachelor degree programs will be held on October 3 and 4, 2018, in the Stronghold of Knowledge at 17. listopadu 7. You can find the schedule of matriculations at https://www.prf.upol.cz/en/students/important-dates-deadlines/
Graduation ceremonies
We ask students who graduated between August to September 2018 and want to take part in November graduation ceremonies to inform their study referent by email. Study plan of 1st year doctoral students
We ask first-year doctoral students to submit their study plans by September 30, 2018. The study plan must be signed by the student, their supervisor and chair of the subject committee. At the same time, we ask students to enter the topic of dissertation and name of supervisor into STAG.
Support your Faculty and get up to CZK 10,000!
Promotion of the Faculty of Science and Improvement of the Environment at the Faculty is the goal of the project challenge for students. Cherish your Nature! If you have an idea how to promote our Faculty, make the Faculty more visible to the public, create a teaching aid, organize an exhibition, or organize co-operation with high-school students, sign up for the challenge and get CZK 500 to start the project, and after successfully defend it CZK 9,500 in the form of an extraordinary scholarship. An expert commission will assess the creativity and originality of the proposal, contribution to the Faculty and the quality of the final report. Using of classrooms
We ask the class teacher to follow the following guidelines when using LP 1022, LP 1036, LP 1037, LP 2005 classrooms
- The data projector remote control is in the lobby
- If the user reports that he/she is from Holice, keys will be handed to him from the department where the desktop PC is located (the desktop PC is temporarily lent from Holice only to be used by Holice lecturers)
- It is necessary for the user after completing his lecture to turn off the PC, lock the desk, and hand the key back to the lobby together with the remote control of the data projector. Failing to do so, the teacher may interfere with the following lesson.
- At the moment, everything is customized for PC usage, as well as the use of your own laptop
- In the event of a PC malfunction, contact the doorman in the lobby who will call the person responsible or solve the problem.
- Do not attempt to repair it yourself in any way, usually the malfunction regards connection of your own laptop, as well as the installed PC.

Since October 1, 2018, the operation department of Building management will be in charge of renting and booking rooms at the Faculty of Science. Contact Mgr. Personnel changes in the faculty library
Since October 1, 2018, there will be a new Head of the Faculty library. Svatava Huňková will replace Mgr. Michaela Vepřeková.
Extraordinary meeting
An extraordinary meeting of the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Science regarding the new university institution - CIST, will be held on October 17 at 1:00 pm.
Regular meeting
The next regular meeting of the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Science will be held on Wednesday, October 24, at 1:00 pm in meeting room of 6.014 at the Dean´s office.

Conference on Ph.D. Existence
The ninth year of the traditional Czecho-Slovak psychological conference (not only) about doctoral students and for doctoral students called Ph.D. Existence will take place on January 21 and 22 in UP Konvikt. The main topic will be Body and Mind. Conditions for contributions are available on the conference website under Registration, which will be open until January 2. Slovakian nationwide student konference
On November 7, Slovakian Technical University in Bratislava organizes the 20th Slovakian nationwide Student Scientific Conference called "Chemistry and Technology for Life". The conference will hold a competition for the best student scientific paper for students of 1st and 2nd level of university studies in 25 sections in fields of Chemistry, Biotechnology and Chemical and food technology.
