We would like to thank all volunteers who signed up to the bone marrow donor registry last Wednesday. There were 186 students who donated their time, 2 milliliters of blood and hope to save human lives.

Notification for administrators of Inter-Excellence, Czech-Israeli, Czech-Bavarian and Danube co-operation projects continuing and ending in 2018
The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports asks the beneficiaries, whose projects continue this year, not to return the funds which would otherwise be sent to the Ministry as a return payment in the annual settlement of the financial subsidy. Pursuant to the amendment to Decree No. 367/2015 Coll., research, development and innovation projects will be settled after their financing is terminated. There will be amendments to contracts or change decisions issued to the grant recipients. Project proposals for tenders of the Grant Agency of the Czech Republic in 2018 to promote standard, international and junior projects should be sent to Lenka Hárendarčíková at lenka.harendarcikova@upol.cz by Thursday, April 4th, in order to ensure timely submission of your proposal via data box.

We kindly ask project administrators to send in all other necessary documentation such as project proposal, tender documentation, support contract, general conditions, binding parameters, type of competition / provider, decisions with the draft contract to the Legal Department in order to speed up the process of contract approval.

Formally closing studies before SZZ / defense
We would like to notify students who plan to take Final state examination or defend their thesis in May / June 2018, to close their studies at the Study department at least three weeks prior to the date of the exam or defense.

Check registration of Final state examination subjects in STAG
We ask students who plan to take their Final state exam or defend their thesis this academic year to check the registration of Final state examination subjects / defense in STAG. Should these subjects not be registered in STAG, the dates of possible examination or defense will not be accessible to you.

Doctoral study
Dean of the faculty has appointed prof. Bábek the Dean for Doctoral Studies. He is now in charge of doctoral study agenda, including recognition of publishing activities and recognition of a research internship. Applications for approval should be submitted at the Study Department.

Student Scientific Competition for the Dean's Award
An extraordinary scholarship, as well as valuable prizes are at stakes in the student competition for Dean´s Award. All students of our Faculty who are properly enrolled in the Mathematics and Informatics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Ecology, Earth Sciences and Didactics of Natural Sciences may enter the competition. Registration is open until April 24 online. Scientific papers must be submitted by April 30, the competition will take place on May 3. Contipro also offers Trainee programs - one-year positions for graduates, which make it possible to try out three different positions during the year to gain valuable experience. Prague Protein Spring Conference 2018
Take the opportunity to meet and discuss with peaks in Molecular and Structural Biology, Protein Chemistry and medicine at a scientific conference on proteins and their development. The upcoming meeting of the Faculty´s Academic Senate will take place on April 11, 2 pm in the boardroom of the Dean´s office. Senators will among other things approve the budget of the Faculty.

As of March 19, 2018 amendment no. PřF-B-18/01 to Dean´s methodology guidelines A-17/2-MPD for determination of the level of indirect costs for the purpose of submitting projects under institutional targeted support.

Training for drivers of company vehicles
Employees who during the fulfillment of their duties drive their own or company vehicles with weight of 3.5 tons and less, and are not professional drivers (driving of a vehicle is not mentioned in their employment contract) must attend a driver training, which will take place on March 28, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the old auditorium of the Faculty of Education at Žižkovo náměstí.
In front of the auditorium there will be an attendance list. We kindly request participants to leave their legibly written names, the respective department and their signature. Their attendance will otherwise be invalid. The training is valid for two years, and there is no need to register for the event ahead of time.

Personal changes in the Library in Holice
As of March 12, Mrs. Vladislava Szitaiová has replaced Mr. Marek Boháč at his position.

Basics of statistical data processing
Learning to effectively get relevant information, interpret results correctly, and understand the philosophy of statistical data processing will all be part of a course of statistics available to academic staff and students of doctoral study programs at UP. Its first part will take place in May. The course is designed for anyone who wants to perform high quality and valid statistical data analysis. It is suitable for both those who are starting statistical data analysis and experienced users of statistics who need to clarify or confirm their procedures or want to consult their problems. The first part of the course will take place from May 14-18, 2018 in classroom 5.007 on the fifth floor of the main Faculty building.
The second part of the course - Advanced Methods of Statistical Data Processing - will be held at the end of this year and focus on broadening and deepening the knowledge of statistical methods that reflect the specifics of particular disciplines.
