Formally closing studies before SZZ / defense
We would like to notify students who plan to take Final state examination or defend their thesis in May / June 2018, to close their studies at the Study department at least three weeks prior to the date of the exam or defense.

Graduation ceremony of Bachelor and Master Degree programs
Graduation ceremony of Bachelor and Master Degree programs will take place from June 25-29. We ask students to inform the Study department if they wish to participate as soon as possible.

Student teacher training
Continuous teacher training of students of the 2nd follow-up and parallel complementary studies of teaching will be held from September 24 to October 12. Registered students will be placed at schools in Olomouc, Šternberk, Přerov, Uničov and Litovel. Students do not need to apply on their own at these schools. They should only state in the application, which school in Olomouc region they would like to teach. Students wishing to do the training in another region must arrange it for themselves. At the same time, they must ask the school principal for permission. Please submit your application by September 3 at cpp.upol.cz. Recognition of subject from the pedagogical minimum (lifelong learning)
We would like to notify students of the follow-up single-subject studies who have completed the pedagogical minimum in their main studies, and in this academic year they will graduate, of the necessity of transferring subjects of the pedagogical minimum from the full-time study to life-long education. You can apply for the transfer of courses via classical application (download form on the FS website) - not in the form of an electronic application. Send the application to the study department to Ms. Karásková.

Doctoral studies
Graduation ceremony of Doctoral studies will také place on May 31. Students will be informed of the exact time and place.

Evaluations by Doctoral students
We ask student of doctoral study programs to submit their evaluations for academic year 2017/2018 by June 30. The evaluation must be signed by the student and his/her supervisor and must include the supervisor´s written opinion ov whether or not he recommends promotio to a higher grade. Even after submitting the evaluation, the student can complete the courses he/she had registered in STAG by September 6. After this date, conditions for promotion to the next year will be checked. Students of fourth and higher years will also submit an application for extension of their studies. The application must also include the statement and signature of the supervisor.

The Duo-Korea Fellowship Program
The "Duo-Korea Fellowship Program" allows student Exchange stays between South Korea and the European Union sountries. A bilateral cooperation agreement must be concluded between the relevant universities. The duration of the stay is usually one semester, however maximum of four months. Fulbright Scholarship
Student who are interested in a study or research stay at a selected university in the US and have completed their Bachelor degree program cen apply for a Fulbright Scholarship. Deadline for submission of applications, including all required documents, is September 1 for studies starting one year later. News in accreditation systém
An accreditation service according to ČSN EN ISO / IEC 17025: 2018 - General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories (hereinafter referred to as the "New Standard") has been launched on May 1. On the website of the Czech Accreditation Institute (www.cai.cz) there has been a methodical guideline MPA 10-01-18 published, which interprets some of the provisions of the new standard. The accreditation body can no longer accept applications for accreditation and prolongation of accreditation according to the original standard (ČSN EN ISO / IEC 17025: 2005). The accreditations granted remain valid; expanding and limiting their range, or making other changes, is possible according to the original revision of the standard by the end of the transition period. The transition period set by ILAC's resolution, which serves to transfer the accredited entities to the new standard, is set for three years and ends on November 29, 2020.

Drive training
Training of drivers of referent motor vehicles (alternative date) will take place on May 14 in the auditorium (room no. 1.64) of the Faculty of Education at Žižkovo nám. 5 between 9:00 and 10:30. The training concerns mainly new employees (drivers of referent vehicles) and all employees of Palacký University whose previous training will expire. Other planned training will take place in October or November. The date, venue and time of the event will be announced.

Museum night at the Faculty of Science and the Stronghold of Knowledge
The Faculty will participate in the Museum Night on May 18, and welcome visitors between 6.00 and 10.30 pm on. Do not miss out on guided tours including a visit to the roof, a mathematical coffee shop with quizzes and puzzles, a chemical lab, or a night world with the Department of Geography. The Stronghold of Knowledge, where you can go back in time, will be opened between 6.00 and 11.00 pm. The central feature of the exhibition will be a funny comic story on 12 large-format panels. You will learn about the founding of the Olomouc fortress and the events in which Maria Theresa or Emperor Franz Joseph I.

Stronghold against cancer
Stronghold of Knowledge has decided once again to support the fight against skin cancer. During the weekend of May 12 and 13, from 10 am to 5 pm, in cooperation with doctors from the Military Hospital Olomouc, a program called "Melanom is not art" will be taking place. Dermatologists will be examining by a special dermatoscope and will recommend photoprotection. Visitors will also learn how to behave while staying in the sun, especially at the seaside, in the mountains or at summer festivals. And they bring home not only interesting information, but also small gifts for their skin.

Crytur Award 2018
Crytur, in collaboration with the CareerMarket.cz portal, will be giving out awards to authors of the best Master thesis in Materials Science. By May 15, you can enter your Master thesis with the expected date of defense from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018. Successful students and theses´ supervisors will be awarded. The work can be written in Czech, Slovak or English.

Best Birthday Cards Dean of the Faculty of Science announces the Best Birthday Card Competition. The students and employees of UP as well as graduates of the Faculty of Science can compete with their proposals. The best designer receives a financial reward of 3,000-5,000 CZK and a 3-day voucher for two persons in the faculty recreation facility in Karlov. Jean-Marie Lehn
The final round of the national competition for the Jean-Marie Lehna Award for Chemistry will be hosted by the Faculty of Science on May 15. This is an appreciation of research work of Czech students which they have been working on during their doctoral studies. Winners receive both financial support and get the opportunity to travel to a research lab in France. The ceremony will take place at a reception at the French Embassy.
