Introductory word
Dear employees, dear students,
A working group (hereinafter referred to as the "WG FoS") negotiating the establishment of the Higher Education Institute at UP (hereinafter referred to as the "HEI UP") has been created at the Faculty of Science with regard to the approval of the idea of establishing the Institute. Its task is to agree on the conditions for the establishment of the HEI UP and the way of subsequent cooperation with the Faculty of Science.
The WG FoS is composed of the representatives voicing the interests of the Faculty of Science (Prof. Bábek, Prof. Lemr, Prof. Hlaváč) and the representatives voicing the interests of the emerging HEI UP (Prof. Otyepka, Prof. Šebela, Dr. Jančík). The task of the group is to reach an agreement on the rules of division of the existing Faculty of Science between the HEI UP and the Faculty of Science (hereinafter referred to as the "FoS") so that the working conditions of the individual employees are maintained, obligations in relation to providers of funds are maintained and a level playing field is set for further development of both the entities (HEI UP and FoS).
The WG FoS has agreed that it is necessary to keep the employees and students of the FoS, as well as the whole UP posted about the progress in negotiation related to the establishment of the HEI UP. The employees and students directly concerned with the establishment of the HEI UP should have sufficient amount of information for their decision as to which part they would like to continue operating in. It is also desirable to give other employees and students enough information so that they are able to form their ideas about the future functioning of the FoS and HEI UP.
For the above-mentioned reasons, minutes of meetings of the WG FoS will be disclosed to employees and students of the UP via the UPShare application, on the team website of the Working Group of the FoS for the establishment of the Higher Education Institute. At the same time, the WG FoS also wants to make it possible for these employees and students to raise questions and provide consensus answers to them. To make this feasible, the WG FoS has developed the following brief rules:
- Inquiries may be submitted by UP employees and students via e-mail to the address jan.hlavac@upol.cz.
- Inquiries will be collected for a certain period of time (in so-called rounds) and a response will be formed at a meeting of the WG FoS. Both the inquiry and answer will be posted to the UPShare system. (The deadline for the collection of inquiries in the first round has been set to 20 May 2019).
- The WG FoS will only process relevant inquiries related to the discussed items stated in the individual minutes.
- The WG FoS will not deal with any suggestions, comments, evaluations, etc. The aim is to clarify uncertainties in connection with the discussed points listed in the minutes so that the employees and students have a clear idea of the functioning of the FoS and the HEI UP after its establishment.
With regard to the large volume of issues discussed and the complexity of the whole process of dividing the existing Faculty, the WG FoS calls on all the future questioners to address their questions constructively so that activities of the WG FoS are maximally effective and results of its meetings are understandable for UP employees and students.
On behalf of the WG FoS
Jan Hlaváč
