Introductory word
The Faculty of Science is involved in providing care for children in crisis
The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has turned to the Faculty of Science with a request for cooperation in providing care for children of the state´s critical infrastructure workers, who currently provide essential activities to cope with a serious epidemiological situation. Therefore, in each region, based on the decision of the Government of the Czech Republic No. 1033 of October 12, 2020, schools and school facilities to provide such care were designated.
Our faculty has joined this project with the aim of assisting children of staff with online study, as well as provide full-time teaching, tutoring, babysitting of all types and for all levels of schools. The Department of Pedagogical Training immediately addressed students of science and mathematics, who have just finished their second compulsory four-week continuous teacher training.
Our students have shown great interest and are without hesitation willing to voluntarily participate not only in the Olomouc region, but also in other regions (Moravian-Silesian, Pardubice, Zlín). With their approach and willingness to help to ensure that children of health care professionals are taught on an ongoing basis in schools, even if the current capacity of teachers and school staff is limited (many of them infected with coronavirus or in quarantine).
The Department of Pedagogical Training has prepared a list of students who have been involved in providing care for children and youth in crisis situations for the use of Department of Education and Youth of the Olomouc Region. The contacts will thus be available to the crisis staff, which will then contact students and ask them for specific assistance in a specific region.
We appreciate that our students, future teachers of science and mathematics, did not hesitate to actively join this event. We believe that with their approach and attitude they will help promote the good name of our Faculty.
