TA CR - deadlines (reports)

Please deliver the documents to be sent via data box, together with the form (yellow request form "košilka" available here) signed by the supervisor and the UP investigator 3 days before the deadline for approval by the Faculty of Science management or call Silvie Šavrňáková for individual arrangement.

  • Deadline for submitting partial reports is always 30 January of the year following the year for which the report is submitted.
  • Deadline for submitting final reports is no later than 30 days after the end of the project.
  • Reports on the result implementation by 31 July (applies to all programmes, except Beta).

The system will notify the project owner to the submission of the report in Tasks, the form is then available on the project homepage under the Report Overview tab. For complete information, please refer to the Project Partial and Final Report Submission Instructions, available on the ISTA homepage. Reports will be sent via the UP OL data box.

MPO – Call III – DEEP TECH

The goal of the Call is to gain new knowledge needed for the development of new products, materials, technologies and services through industrial research and experimental development projects.

Before submitting the project proposal on behalf of the UP, the consent of the Dean and the Secretary of the Faculty is required for submission through the green request form (“zelená košilka”) and brief information on the project. Queries may be addressed to Mgr. Silvie Šavrňáková (silvie.savrnakova@upol.cz).

GA ČR – Lead Agency

The Czech Science Foundation (GA ČR) in cooperation with the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR) announces a call for project proposals based on the Lead Agency evaluation principle with an expected start date in 2026.

In this call, GA ČR acts as a partner organisation – the projects are evaluated by FNR and GA ČR accepts the results of the evaluation. The call is announced under the Weave initiative.

The deadline for submission of project proposals started on 20 December 2024. The Czech part of the project proposal can be submitted until 17 April 2025 at the latest, i.e. 7 days after the official deadline set by the FNR for Luxembourg applicants on 10 April 2025.

Please note that in the application the project needs to be set up in the call Lead Agency - Partner Organization - 2026 - NCN (Poland)/FNR (Luxembourg). Projects are for max. three years, GA CR allows a project duration of 24 or 36 months. The duration of the project must be the same for all researchers.

Concurrence of project proposals

For concurrent project proposals in which the same person acts as a proposer or co-proposer, the rule set out in Article 3, par. 12 of the Rules applies, except that projects submitted to this call will count towards the maximum number of project proposals submitted to calls with an expected start date in 2026.

Project proposals submitted to this call will not count towards the maximum number of project proposals submitted to calls with an expected start date in 2025.

GA ČR – international projects

The Czech Science Foundation (GA ČR) has decided in the competition for International Projects – 2025 the National Research Foundation of Korea, Korea (NRF) within the framework of bilateral projects to fund the project of doc. RNDr. Libor Machala, Ph.D. from the Department of Experimental Physics entitled "Železo obsahující nano(foto)katalyzátory pro odbourávání mikropolutantů z vody".

PhD graduation ceremony

The graduation ceremony of doctoral students and the presentation of decrees to new associate professors will take place in the auditorium of the Faculty of Arts on 11 April 2025 at 9:00.

International and Non-university Affairs

Mandatory reporting of mobilities

It is the responsibility of every outgoing student to report his/her mobility. Always report your intention to go and the duration of your mobility to Mrs. Marie Raková (marie.rakova@upol.cz) from the International section of the Student Affairs Office. You will also find new information about traineeships, which must be reported as well.

Information about foreign students who will come for an internship must also be sent to Mrs. Raková in advance by the department to which they are to come.

Records of foreign guests

It is the responsibility of the department to register foreign guests. If you have international guests visiting your department, please enter their information in the Portal.

Instructions:

  • click on "All Applications" in your Portal
  • click on the "Guest Admission" tile
  • press the "+New" button and fill out the newly opened form.

Mobility scholarship

A student who goes on any mobility abroad for 30 days or more (study stay, research internship, work placement, summer school, etc.), can apply for a scholarship of CZK 5,000 for each mobility. The request must be submitted before departure. Details here.

Co-financing of internships abroad

It is possible to apply for additional funding for student internships abroad if the primary source does not cover all the necessary costs. The completed and signed application form (available in both English and Czech) send either by internal mail to Waleria Slowiková (Student Affairs Office) or send a signed scan to waleria.slowikova@upol.cz.

Fulbright Scholarships

The Fulbright Commission has announced the following two programmes for the 2025-2026 academic year: Scholarship for postgraduate studies with a deadline on 1 February 2025. Detailed information here.

The scholarship is intended for students after completing a bachelor's programme and before completing a doctoral programme and is intended for research stays.

JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship for Overseas Researchers

The Czech Academy of Sciences (CAS) in cooperation with the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) has announced scholarships under the JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship for Overseas Researchers programme.

Applications are open for a stay of 12-24 months at Japanese workplaces, starting no later than 30 November 2025. The deadline for applications is 28 April 2025. All documentation is available for download on the CAS website in the news section of the International Relations section, and includes summary instructions for applicants, the application form and instructions for completing it.

Academic Senate

The regular meeting of the Academic Senate FS UP will take place on 5 February 2025 at 13:00 in the conference room of the Dean's Office. Detailed information and materials as well as the link to the stream will be available at the given time of the meeting on the senate website (in Czech).

Student Affairs

Registration for courses – summer semester 2024/2025

The registration for courses in the summer semester of the academic year 2024/2025 for all study programmes at the Faculty of Science takes place from 21 January to 24 February 2025. Detailed schedule is available, as usual, on the website.

Fischer scholarship holder's seminar
The Vice-Dean for International Relations prof. Dušek, cordially invites you to the seminar for the holders of the Fischer scholarship, which our faculty awards to foreign PhD students. The event will be held on Tuesday, 4 February at 9:00 a.m. in the Big Conference Room, Dean's Office (room 6.014) on the 6th floor of the Faculty of Science. The attendance of the Fischer scholarship holders and their supervisors is requested. However, all other faculty employees and students are welcome too.

Student grant competition

The Rector of Palacký University Olomouc announces the 16th year of the student grant competition at UP.

The aim of the competition is to support projects implemented by students of Doctoral or Master’s degree programs financed by funds for specific university research. The student project investigator can be a student of doctoral study program at UP, where UP is the teaching workplace, or a UP academic. Other members of the research team may be PhD or MSc students or academic, scientific, research and development staff.

Applications are only submitted electronically, through the UP OBD portal, until 16:00 on 16 January 2025.

Miscellaneous

Elections for UP Rector

The public presentation of the candidates for the position of the UP Rector and the subsequent discussion between members of the UP academic community and the candidates will be held on 15 January 2025 at 13:00 in the auditorium of the UP Faculty of Education.

The election of the Rector will take place at the meeting of the Academic Senate of Palacký University on 22 January 2025. A live stream of the meeting will be available at avp.upol.cz/stream. Further information about the election of the Rector can be found on this website.

Open Day

Information on study and a rich accompanying programme will be offered during the Open Day of Palacký University on Saturday, 25 January 2025. From 8:00 to 14:00 you can visit the university premises of most faculties, dormitories, canteen and other workplaces.

At the Faculty of Science, you can take a peek into the state-of-the-art laboratories, classrooms, library, study hall etc. For a complete schedule visit our website.

Offer of preventive dermatological examination

Take care of your skin and prevent the development of dangerous melanoma. Prevention is important. In cooperation with MAPO care Ltd, the faculty offers its employees a non-invasive examination by an experienced dermatologist directly at the workplace, on two dates:

  • 23 January from 8:00 to 12:00 | small meeting room of the Dean's Office (6th floor of the main building, 17. listopadu 12) | Envelopa reservation
  • 6 February from 8:00 to 12:00 | classroom 1.10 in building 47, 1st floor (Holice, Šlechtitelů 27) | Holice reservation

Reservations are required for the examination. In case of full capacity, afternoon appointments on the same days will be added. The examination is charged to the employee's health insurance, so please bring your health insurance card.

UPoint

The information centre and the UPoint shop is closed until the end of January due to necessary interior renovation. However, it will be open throughout the UP Open Day.

Science in Film

Films about science can be not only fascinating but also extremely educational. That is why the UP Crowd in cooperation with Telegraph Olomouc has prepared another screening with a lecture as part of the Science in Film project. On Tuesday 26 February 2025 you can see the film Lucy.
