MPO - Applications - Call II - Development of digital solutions
The goal of the call is to support the development of innovative digital solutions.

GA CR - Tenders announced for 2026 projects
The Czech Science Foundation (GA CR) announces calls for proposals for standard projects, JUNIOR STAR, POSTDOC INDIVIDUAL FELLOWSHIP, international projects and now also Return Grants, which are intended for scientists after a career break.
The biggest innovation this year is the Return Grants. They will enable scientists to return to science and lead their research project after a career break, for example due to parental leave.
Project proposals starting in 2026 can be submitted until 3 April 2025.
To secure the approval of the project application by the faculty management, please deliver the original green request form and the brief project information to the Department of Project Support, to Mgr. Ľubica Korcanová (in person or by internal mail - mailbox 3905 at the faculty's gatehouse), by 27 March 2025.
Send the final version of the project proposal in PDF with the FINAL watermark generated from GRIS to lubica.korcanova@upol.cz - by 31 March 2025.
In order to ensure a smooth submission process for this call and due to technical issues with file matching in GRIS, it is strongly recommended to deliver final versions of project applications before the faculty deadline, in case there is a need to resubmit project proposals.

GA ČR – Lead Agency (FNR)
The Czech Science Foundation (GA ČR) in cooperation with the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR) announces a call for project proposals based on the Lead Agency evaluation principle with an expected start date in 2026. In this call, GA ČR acts as a partner organisation – the projects are evaluated by FNR and GA ČR accepts the results of the evaluation. The call is announced under the Weave initiative.
The Czech part of the project proposal can be submitted until 17 April 2025 at the latest, i.e. 7 days after the official deadline set by the FNR for Luxembourg applicants on 10 April 2025.

GA ČR – Lead Agency (SNSF)
The Czech Science Foundation (GA ČR) in cooperation with the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) announces a call for project proposals based on the Lead Agency evaluation principle with an expected start date in 2026. In this call, GA ČR acts as a partner organisation – the projects are evaluated by SNSF and GA ČR accepts the results of the evaluation. The call is announced under the Weave initiative.
The Swiss Agency has set two deadlines for the submission of project proposals in 2025, namely 1 April and 1 October 2025. For the first deadline, the expected start of the project is 1 January 2026, for the second deadline it is 1 July 2026.
The Czech part of the project proposal can be submitted no later than 7 days after the official deadline set by the SNSF for Swiss applicants, i.e. until 8 April 2025 or 8 October 2025.

MEYS - LUARK25 call (CR - Korea)
The aim of LUAKR25 (Inter-Excellence II – Inter-Action) is to select joint basic or applied research projects focusing on the following areas/sub-areas:
- Biosciences;
- Chemical Materials;
- Digital.
The duration of the supported projects is set at 3 years (1 October 2025 - 30 September 2028).
The competition period starts on 11 February 2025 and ends on 7 April 2025. The evaluation period runs from 8 April 2024 to 31 August 2025.
Submit the completed green request form + project proposal /or brief project information in case of unfinished project proposal/ to Ing. Tea Pokorná at DSP by 2 April 2025 - with the signature of the Dean and the faculty Secretary. The proposals for sending by data message to the MEYS can be delivered no later than 4 April 2025 by noon. Further information can be found on the faculty website.
International and Non-university Affairs
Mandatory reporting of mobilities
Every mobility, regardless of the source of funding, must be reported at least one month before its start to Mgr. Marie Raková at marie.rakova@upol.cz from the International section of the Student Affairs Office. Outgoing mobilities are primarily reported by students, incoming mobilities by the department. Details can be found on the faculty website.
Records of foreign guests
It is the responsibility of the department to register foreign guests. If you have international guests visiting your department, enter their information in the Portal as follows:
- click on "All Applications" in your Portal
- click on the "Guest Admission" tile
- press the "+New" button and fill out the newly opened form.
Mobility scholarship
A student who goes on any mobility abroad for 30 days or more (study stay, research internship, work placement, summer school, etc.), can apply for a scholarship of CZK 5,000 for each mobility. The request must be submitted before departure. Details here.
Co-financing of internships abroad
It is possible to apply for additional funding for student internships abroad if the primary source does not cover all the necessary costs. The completed and signed application form (available in both English and Czech) send either by internal mail to Waleria Slowiková (Student Affairs Office) or send a signed scan to waleria.slowikova@upol.cz.
UAAT International Young Visiting Scholar 2025
Young academics and researchers are invited to apply for the UAAT International Young Visiting Scholar 2025 programme, organized by UAAT (University Academic Alliance in Taiwan). This program allows short-term stays (1-3 months) at UAAT member universities in Taiwan to promote international collaboration in research, teaching and innovation, and offers financial support of up to NTD 300,000 (~USD 10,000) to cover travel and living expenses.

JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship for Overseas Researchers
The Czech Academy of Sciences (CAS) in cooperation with the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) has announced scholarships under the JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship for Overseas Researchers programme.
Applications are open for a stay of 12-24 months at Japanese workplaces, starting no later than 30 November 2025. The deadline for applications is 28 April 2025. All documentation is available for download on the CAS website in the news section of the International Relations section, and includes summary instructions for applicants, the application form and instructions for completing it.
Academic Senate
The regular meeting of the Academic Senate FS UP will take place on 23 April 2025 at 13:00 in the conference room of the Dean's Office. Detailed information and materials as well as the link to the stream will be available at the given time of the meeting on the senate website (in Czech).
Student Affairs
Student Scientific Competition – Dean's Award
Are you proud of your scientific achievements? Then enter the ‘Student Scientific Competition – Dean's Award’ and win an extraordinary scholarship! All students of the Faculty of Science are eligible to compete in the sections of Mathematics and Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Ecology and Environment, and Earth Sciences. The poster session is also open.
The competition takes place on 5 May 2025, and you can register until 30 April 2025 on the website, where you will also find detailed information. The competition will award 1st - 3rd place in each category of each section and its winner in each section. In addition, the overall winner of the competition will be announced and will receive an extraordinary scholarship of 15,000 CZK.
Rudolf Lukeš Prize 2025
Until 31 March, applications for the Rudolf Lukes Prize are accepted: become a laureate for 2025.
Spotlighting the best scientists and their achievements will increase the motivation of the scientific community to achieve excellence. That is the hope behind the Rudolf Lukeš Prize, which is awarded annually to an elite scientist in the field of organic, bioorganic or medicinal chemistry by the Czech Chemical Society’s Expert Group on Organic, Bioorganic and Pharmaceutical Chemistry in cooperation with the Experientia Foundation for an outstanding body of original work in the field published in the last five years in prestigious international journals.

Miscellaneous
Window into Practice
Palacký University students have a unique opportunity to personally meet and talk with potential employers at the Window into Practice job fair. The event will take place on 8 April from 10:00 to 15:00 in the main building of the UP Faculty of Science. The fair will offer direct communication with recruiters from leading companies, opportunity to consult professional CV's and information about current job positions. English courses
Department of Foreign Languages is now offering the opportunity for staff to learn English from native speaker Dr. Lianne Barnard on Mondays 3:00-4:30pm or Tuesdays 11:30-1:00pm. If you are interested, please contact the Head of the Department Mgr. Eva Karaskova (eva.karaskova@upol.cz). The following courses currently running can also be attended.
UP Sports Day
UP Sports Day will take place on Wednesday 14 May 2025. A day off has been granted by the Rector for this day and all physical activities within the Sports Day will be free of charge for both UP employees and students. A detailed schedule of sports activities offered can be found here.
Plans of university buildings
University building plans (inet.upol.cz) are now available only from the university network for security reasons.
