From today, the renovated south-east terrace of the Faculty of Science offers a pleasant sitting place with a view of the geopark and Svatý Kopeček near Olomouc. The renovated terrace is decorated with a new walking area, which will be complemented by extensive greenery and in the future also a new seating area.
“After more than a year and a half of preparations and the construction work itself, we replaced the unsuitable walking area on the terrace as part of the roof reconstruction. Work was also carried out to improve the technical properties of the roof and to remove skylights. Instead, space for greenery was created. Since the sun shines relatively intensely onto the terrace, we chose extensive greenery, which can maintain adequate quality without regular watering and professional care,” said Ondřej Kolář from the building management.
According to Kolář, due to the expected hot summer, the greenery will not be planted until the end of summer or the beginning of autumn. “In the future, we plan to add waste bins for sorted waste, new seating and possibly additional greenery on the terrace,” added Ondřej Kolář. The entire overhaul of the roof of the Faculty of Science, carried out by the company IZOTECH MORAVIA, will be completed during the summer holidays.
