On 13 May, the Botanical Garden of the UP Faculty of Science organised the Litovel Morava River Protected Landscape Area (Litovelské Pomoraví PLA) Day as part of its regular science programmes, to remind visitors of the beautiful and sometimes mysterious nature of Litovelské Pomoraví. The programme was prepared thanks to long-term cooperation with the Viadua Association and with the contribution of the City of Olomouc.
“The morning will be dedicated to kindergarten and primary school students, while the afternoon part will be dedicated to parents and children. The programme will focus on the nature of Litovelské Pomoraví. Visitors can try hunting for aquatic and terrestrial invertebrates, get to know wetland plants and also learn interesting information about the Morava River,” said Václav Dvořák, head of the Botanical Garden.
Throughout the day, the staff of the Litovelské Pomoraví PLA Administration and the regional office of the Nature and Landscape Protection Agency in Olomouc was also available to answer questions about this wetlands forest.
“The Litovelské Pomoraví PLA and Palacký University are very close. Many employees from the Faculty of Science participated in the establishment of this protected area, and many graduates carried out their final theses on topics related to Litovelské Pomoraví. We are therefore glad that we can meet in this informal and playful way in the university Botanical Garden, both with colleagues from the above-mentioned institutions and with visitors to the garden,” added Dvořák.
